Audio Engineering Demo
All the excerpts found on the following Demo Reel were, in some way
crafted by Aaron Hornes Engineering hands (and ears!) On some tracks,
Aarons credit is listed as Recording Engineer, while others are listed as
Mixing Engineer. Tracks listed without those distinctions imply that, on
those projects, Aaron performed both Recording and Mixing duties.
Each of these tracks required a varying array of professional audio
equipment, including industry standard consoles, microphones and
outboard gear. The majority of the sessions were recorded using Pro-Tools,
with supplemental use of Nuendo, Waves, Sound Forge, and Peak.
Composition Demo
Each of the following excerpts represents larger compositions from which
each segment was extracted. Each piece also represents the realization
of a specific artistic vision, usually created through numerous
collaborations with Producers, Directors, Music Supervisors, and Sound
Designers. Each work is specifically designed to meet the individual needs
of a particular project.
While live musicians are desirable in most cases, and used whenever
possible, budget constraints of independent films often necessitate the
use of virtual instruments. To accomplish this task, Aaron uses a
combination of the highest quality sample libraries and VST instruments
available, including: Gigastudio, MachFive, Reason, Miroslav, Garritan
and East-West.
Disaster Drills - Trailer
This promo, currently being optioned to several prime-time networks, is in
support of DDinc.s upcoming docu-drama reality series, entitled Disaster
Drills. Aaron created the sounds for this commercial using sound effects
libraries, location recordings, as well as interviews captured on set.
Federico Chavez composed the music, and Javier Rivera edited the
video.
Before the Music Dies - Trailer
Acting as both Video Editor and Sound Designer, Aaron was asked to
extract both images and sounds from the feature to create a condensed,
2-minute version of the film. The filmmakers were then able to use that
trailer to shop, and promptly sell, this groundbreaking music-business
documentary.
Necromancer - Excerpt
This clip from Necromancer, a stylized horror film from director Colin
Rogers, contains music written, recorded and performed by Aaron Horne.
Heath Hays acted as the Sound Designer for this project, as well as
collaborated with Aaron on the 5.1 surround sound mix.
Aborting Affin - Excerpt
Aaron acted as both Composer and Sound Designer for this film, directed
by Jonathan Rambourg. All sound effects heard during this dream
sequence were either created or recorded by Aaron Horne, and added
in post-production to a previously silent segment of the film.
Blaze - Excerpt
Aaron was asked by makers of Before the Music Dies to mix the multi-
track recordings of Austins own hip-hop/jazz fusion group, Blaze, whose
performance was used as transitional material throughout the film.
Austin Movie Show - Commercial
Aaron edited the video for this commercial sponsored by Austin Movie
Show, a public access program appearing on both METV and the Austin
Music Network. Aaron was also asked to write, perform, and record the
song used as underscore heard during the AMS commercial.
